Tennis4Life Academy (T4L) is a local, non-profit organization dedicated to developing and promoting junior tennis in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are parents, friends and tennis lovers inspired to help junior players at all skill and socioeconomic levels grow as athletes and people on and off the court regardless of age, gender or ability to pay. Our unwavering commitment is to promote the sport we care about through developing young players who uphold its highest values: competitiveness, sportsmanship, physical well-being and mental sharpness.
The coaches concur that the philosophy of the program is to create group dynamics, where the players push one another to improve. In determining the groups, no consideration is given to age or gender, but rather to skill and ability. This makes the program unique in the Richmond area. Because the program is not affiliated with any particular club in the area, and no membership is required, the program focuses on the tennis. We don’t worry about how tall a player is, or how old. Instead we spend our time considering how to make each player the best they can be, given their talent and drive. Whether it is to make the JV team or to win a National Junior tournament, the key to achieving goals is to have players working together to improve overseen by strong coaches. This is Tennis4Life.
We maintain a full slate of programs for most levels of players. Between the six week sessions, players can move between groups and levels based on performance, work ethic and current enrollment. The clinics are also unique in that we maintain a strict ratio of players to courts and pros (no more than 6-1). Unlike traditional club clinics, we keep our groups small so that each player has maximum hitting time and instruction. Our goal is to have players participating at all times during a clinic, and never waiting for their turn to play.
Finally, we are different in that we are non-profit. Tennis4Life simply purchases available court time from local clubs, colleges, and recreational centers and puts the best pros on the courts to instruct. The total cost of each program is made up of needed court time, pro time and equipment and simply passed along to the players, and no administrative fees are attached.
If you believe in this type of program, we could use your support. Tennis4Life is fully funded by donations to cover scholarships for players who could otherwise not afford to play. Our administrative staff is all parent volunteers. Money or time, either helps a kid stay on the court!
The evening group that is held T-Th from 6 - 7:30 p.m. will move to the VCU bubble (YEAH!) on Thursday, November 5.
